The yoga space was a gorgeous, roofed platform above the library with impeccable floors and views. It would need to be swept and mopped constantly to keep the jungle from taking root, and I was familiarized with the location of these supplies so that I could attend to the platform early in the morning, before our group sadhana. We sound checked equipment and I unpacked my fancy camera. An hour later, we reconnected in the outdoor dining area for a gorgeous dinner prepared just-so for the group.
I’ve never attended a women’s retreat, and may not have selected this sort of thing had it not come to me under the guise of work, but it was the right dose of inclusion and arms-length for me. I could participate so long as my logistical duties were complete, and I could duck out as needed to attend to an urgent preparation or recon or moment of unburdened internet.
Day three was different.
