As we taxied in the dark, I could see the universe of light laid out by teams of humans whose work is the collaborative magic of human flight. Blue sections, a yellow guidepost, a labyrinth of dark, imaginary roads. The multicolored stars appear as pathways to those who know what they are looking for, but for me? As much logic and divine order as the Milky Way.

Fewer whirls, perhaps.

The act of flight is an exercise in tremendous faith for me - for you, too, whether you’re aware of it or not. I’ve seen cumulonimbus clouds from God’s perspective - the sunrise over the Himalayas - the sunset over the center of the pacific.

These are not things a single lifetime ought to show, and yet, I have seen them.
