How long do you plan to live?

This weekend we drove up to the small piece of land we own, up beyond the hinterlands, deep in the mountains. We walked around the property. My person did some fire mitigation, cutting low limbs off of the trees who have managed just fine without human interaction so far, and yet may fare better in a world of wildfire with some care.

Some trees are old, some are new. Tiny green sprigs of sage are poking through, and every dozen steps or so I see a small round ball of cactus about level with the top soil.

We plan to add our roots here as well.

In a conversation with my financial advisor, he wanted to confirm that we have a ‘legacy plan in place’ for this property.

“How long do you plan to live?” he asked.
