The bots are everywhere these days, and rather than combing the ocean for micro plastics or helping you navigate a hospital under construction, they are off getting creative, airbrushing your thirty/fortysomething self into a teen of every era and ostensibly… writing(?). Maybe someday they will succeed in offering us all of the entertainment we need - playing fake sports with fake bodies, plagued with only fake injuries, or acting in fake (?) tv shows, written, acted, and directed by computers.

Recently, in an effort to tidy up my virtual presence, I logged into LinkedIn to update my profile. I can’t recall the last time I added something, but I think it was a few years ago, and now there are new features like a ‘headline’ and a ‘summary,’ which AI generously offers to write on your behalf.

I have expertise in career exploration/advocacy as well as providing counseling services on behalf of both individuals and organizations. With my extensive professional experiences, I am adept at working individually, within a team, or as an elected official. As a strong advocate for young adults, my commitment to service has allowed me to develop innovative programs that support young adults in navigating their transition from high school to post secondary. My experience in the social justice field is an ideal asset in assisting young people achieve their life goals.”
It’s mostly grammatically correct, contextually inaccurate, and has only one gorgeous (if not horrifying) Easter egg:
“… or as an elected official.”
